This custom-made 1/6 Aliens Stasis Tube would make the perfect diorama accessory for those Hot Toys Aliens & Colonial Marines. It is built by Frank Cerney of FM Model Co. Head over to the company’s page here for more info & graphic goodness. Good news is the Statis Tube is available for sale for $60 and comes in kit form.

They’ve also produced a few other equally fine kits such as the Viper Mk II from Battlestar Galactica and the upcoming B-Wing from Star Wars. Their kits aren’t exactly cheap, but apparently they’re pretty well known for their quality among kit builders.

Haven’t done a review in what seemed like eons now, so I thought I’d do a quick report on one of my more exciting recent acquisitions. This is of course the Metroid Prime Samus Aran Resin Kit from Japanese garage kit maker Dimension Diver. This beautifully cast kit was a Wonder Festival 2009 Summer Event Exclusive and a hot one at that. It did cost me quite a fair bit of change to acquire but I’m really happy with it.

I like how the kit comes with individually colored-cast parts, so you could pretty much build it without having to lift a paintbrush (or airbrush). The kit is a little small for the price though, and IMHO it would’ve been perfect if it was done in a slightly larger scale. It comes with just a single sheet of printed instruction in color. The kit itself looks fairly straightforward to build though. I have yet to build it since I have a tonne of other kits sitting around so this’ll have to wait.

Since it was such a highly coveted kit, supplies of the kit has pretty much dried up even on the secondary market. My search on Yahoo! Japan came up with nothing, but ironically there’s one up for auction on eBay with 5 days to go. The price is already at $188, wonder how much it’ll finally sell for.

So this is it for my short review of the Dimension Diver Metroid Prime Samus Kit. Be sure to check out the photos.

STOMP: Beautiful clean casting, Colored parts, Very Limited

CHOMP: Expensive, Would have been perfect if it was in a larger scale

eBay Auction for Dimension Diver Metroid Prime Samus Aran Wonder Festival 2009 Kit here (Ends 22nd Sept).

This gorgeous resin kit of Xenosaga III’s KOS-MOS from Volks is a Chara Hobby 2009 & Hobby Round 2 event exclusive kit, and can only be ordered through these 2 events. A shame really, as this kit is absolutely jaw-droppingly impressive. KOS-MOS will be a huge kit as well, at 46cm since it’s in 1/4-Scale. The price? A wallet-busting 50,400 YEN ($500)! Nevertheless it’s easily one of the most impressive 3D representations of KOS-MOS from Namco’s famed Xenosaga games on the Playstation 2.

G-System is currently gauging interest on a potential re-creation of an updated version of their 1/35-Scale Ex-S Gundam Resin Kit. Their original 1/35 Ex-S kit is a behemoth of a kit, standing at 115cm tall when completed and weighs 44kg with 830 resin parts! They’re taking pre-orders for an updated and improved version now, and will go ahead with production if they get enough orders. The proposed improvements include additional use of photo-etched parts, LED lighting on areas like the chest and beam gun, and the resculpting of certain areas such as the head to improve appearance of the kit.

Head on over to the product page if you’re interested in the Ex-S kit. I would love one, but the cost is too prohibitive for me and I wouldn’t be able to find the time to complete a kit of such complexity. Anyone who manages to complete the kit would no doubt have an awesome Gundam display piece.

Here’s a Yoko Littner figure that will cost a pretty penny. That’s because it’s a resin kit (Not PVC Figure) which will be produced in extremely limited numbers and is a Volks retail & online shop exclusive. Kit will retail for 10,500 YEN ($100) but will be quite impossible to obtain if you don’t live in Japan.
