play-asia_visa_deal

Yes, Play-Asia is currently having its Summer Promotion now. They’re giving away 20% discount on all in-stock items with the exception of items stocked within the last 30 days. The catch is you’ll have to make the purchase with a Visa card. Ha..it’s a good thing I have myself a Visa. Just go bug one of your buddies to let you use their Visa if you haven’t got one. Tell them you’ll share the loot with them. :) This’ll be a great time to pick up some older items. Some items I have on my Buy List:

I seem to remember there were quite a few other items I wanted to pick up a few months back but I can’t recall what they were now. Gah..should’ve put them in my Watchlist! Now please excuse me while I go hunt for them before they’re snatched up.

I’m a few months’ late with this news as I was never really interested in GamePark’s GP2X Wiz prior to its release. I’ve already got a PSP, among a host of other consoles to occupy what little free time I have for games. However, I became interested in the GP2X after viewing a few Youtube videos of the GP2X Wiz running MAME as well as a host of other emulators. It seems like this tiny little wonder can do a alot of things, such as MPEG4, xViD and DivX video playback, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, WAV audio support, as well as the requisite JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP formats for viewing photos. It also comes standard with some pretty impressive specs such as a touch sensitive 2.8-inch QVGA OLED screen, 533MHz ARM9 processor, 64MB of RAM, and 1GB of NAND flash memory!

I’ve been spending too much lately, so I’ll have to wait a little longer if I do decide to pick this miniature wonder up. I’m wondering how well it’ll do compared to the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP. It’s a fair bit smaller than the Sony PSP or Nintendo DS Lite and would be far more pocketable as a portable gaming system. Are you interested in the GP2X Wiz and will you be buying one?

Whoa!! Is this Metroid Prime Samus Phazon Suit from First 4 Figures one badass statue or what?! I’ve rarely come across a statue that would surprise me in such a positive way. I’ve been more of a 12″ figure collector simply because IMO I think most statues don’t feel “alive” and dynamic enough, and their lack of poseability is usually a real deal breaker for me. But not with this statue. I have to admit, the pose is amazing, and the use of LEDs to light up different parts of the suit pretty much sealed the deal for me. This is definitely going right into my “To Buy” list.

Quoted from First 4 Figures, “First 4 Figures has used the official game files in order to create an extremely accurate recreation of the Phazon suit, with pose inspiration taken from official Metroid artwork…We completely reengineered the original Varia suit model to make the Phazon suit by casting it entirely in transparent resin, adding over 25 LED lights through the suit and finished it off by adding a mirror base which really shows off the lights. When the lights are turned off, an internal IC chip allows for the lights to fade out slowly.”

The statue is only limited to 1500 units, so if you intend to grab one for yourelf I suggest you act quickly. Pre-orders at the First 4 Figures site has closed, but both Play-Asia and Sideshow Collectibles still has it up for pre-order at time of this writing.

Incidentally, there was also a Samus in Varia Suit Statue which was released by First 4 Figures sometime back. I never knew it existed, I would definitely have purchased it if I knew about it back then.
