This massive figure (see size comparison with Luffy in picture) of Bartholomew Kuma from MegaHouse will be charging at you sometime November for 8400 YEN ($90)! Yet another awesome release from MegaHouse’s amazing One Piece Portraits of Pirates line of PVC figures. Very imposing sculpt and beautiful paint job.
One Piece is a pretty good anime IMHO and fans of the long-running show will have something to look forward to in the next few months. These figures of Luffy, Chopper, Zoro, and Nami from MegaHouse’s Portraits of Pirates 1/8 PVC line will be available in conjunction with the upcoming One Piece: Strong World movie to be released in December. Luffy and Chopper will see a December release date while Zoro and Nami will be available in February 2010.
This Volks 1/8-Scale Kirameki Yoko Box HJ Limited Version Resin Kit is a Hobby Japan mail order exclusive item. This guitar-strumming version of Yoko is based on the song called Pieces of Sweet Stars which is sung by Inoue Marina, who is the voice actress of Yoko in Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
Kirameki Yoko Box will measure 10.5cm and will be available exclusively through mail order from 25th September onwards for 10,500 YEN ($105).
Also check out the Pieces of Sweet Stars song below. It’s got a catchy and playful vibe to it. Almost makes me wanna buy the kit.
This is Wave’s representation of Aisaka Taiga from the Toradora anime. I’m absolutely digging the pose and expression on the figure since it has a very playful expression to it. And based on the scans from the Hobby Japan magazine, she will come with multiple facial expressions, but the smiling one seems like the better of the two. The other neutral expression just seems too generic to me.
By the way if you haven’t already done so, do check out the Toradora anime as it’s a nice little romantic comedy.
Here’s a Yoko Littner figure that will cost a pretty penny. That’s because it’s a resin kit (Not PVC Figure) which will be produced in extremely limited numbers and is a Volks retail & online shop exclusive. Kit will retail for 10,500 YEN ($100) but will be quite impossible to obtain if you don’t live in Japan.
Here’s another PVC Figure from the anime Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. There has been close to about a gazillion different Yoko figures out now, but if I’m not mistaken this is the first figure of Viral. Viral is one of the villains in the anime. Oh well, at least now we know ugly villains with a mix of shark and cat DNA will not get as much PVC love as a skimpily-dressed sniper sporting a huge-ass rifle. In any case, this first attempt by Uplark at this formidable villain looks like a good one based on pictures of the finished product. Viral should be available sometime on September 2009 for a price of about $90.
Seems like there’ll be a few Ryomou Shimei PVC Figures scheduled for release between now and the end of the year. This one here is by Alter, the maker of fine PVC Figures. The pose seems to be a little less sexually suggestive than what we’re used to seeing on Ikkitousen figures. But that’s to be expected, since Ikkitousen is a bit of an ecchi anime with tonnes of fan service. But although this figure isn’t as revealing as most Ikkitousen figures from the past, I still do like it alot overall. The paintjob seems excellent, which is pretty much expected of most Alter figures anyway. And finally, this vixen will retail for about 7,140YEN (about $75) and is scheduled for a November 2009 release. I have a feeling this should be a good seller for Alter.
Alter has yet another winner in this 1/8-Scale Yoko Littner - Bounty Hunter of Mystery PVC Figure. Yoko is the sexy sniper gun-totting character from 2007’s hit anime Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. IMHO, this has got to be the best looking Yoko figure so far, and that’s saying alot since there’s already been quite a few outstanding Yoko figures out there.
And below are some smokin’ hot Yoko cosplayers. I guess we’ll have to agree that no matter if it’s real-life or 1/8 plastic, you just can’t go wrong with Yoko. Wish it’s my gun she’s holding instead.
