Here’s a sweet video demo of Hot Toys‘ new Parallel Eyeball Rolling System (PERS) which made its debut on their recently released MMS DX 01 The Dark Knight - Joker figure. After seeing the video and realising how appropriate it was to use such a system on the Joker (gives Joker’s expression an almost life-like appearance), I’m kind of regretting for not pre-ordering this wicked figure. Oh well, I’m pretty sure the figure’s still widely available for now so it’s all good.
This shouldn’t come as any surprise since Hot Toys (or any other toy manufacturers for the matter) will milk every penny out of a franchise by releasing minor costume updates and variants. Well, at least this one comes with a battle-damaged endoskeleton featured base and a 1/6th scale fully articulated Hydrobot with light up function. So I guess it’s all good.
How many of you who purchased the original-release John Connor are intending to pick this version up as well? Or are some of you thinking that you should’ve waited for this instead? Me..I still prefer the original one, but the light up Hydrobot on this is making this kinda tempting…hrmm. Damn you HT!
ACI Toys has just released their line of 1/6 Military Sweater Series. They come in 3 different colors with both Round Neck & V Neck versions in fine knitted and woven fabric. These sweaters accurately represent military sweaters of most modern nation forces and will be an indispensable accessory for modern 12″ military customisers. They supposedly fit best on Hot Toys figures, but will also be suitable with other brands.
This is awesome news. Aldo Raine, the character played by Brad Pitt in Quentin Tarantino’s latest smash hit movie Inglourious Basterds will be an upcoming figure in Hot Toys’ Movie Masterpiece (MMS) line.
Inglourious Basterds has been chalking up rave reviews everywhere but I have yet to watch it myself. Although I pretty much know I’m just gonna enjoy it as much as the rest of Quentin Tarantino’s previous masterpieces. I can’t even decide which Tarantino film’s the best as I pretty much love most of them. Do you have a favorite?
Hot Toys seems to be getting everything right don’t they? I’ll be keeping my eye closely on this one as it develops. Nice!
This badass “Raging Demon” Akuma Resin Statue from Sota Toys has a pretty unique interpretation of Akuma. He seems to have very pronounced facial features, almost “evil” like. And I think it fits the entire “Raging Demon” Akuma theme nicely. Top it off with a nicely defined and exaggerated musculature and we have a winner here. This Akuma statue is slated for a September 2009 release and will have a RRP of $120.
Holy schmoley! These prototype pictures of the 1/6-Scale 19″ Iron-Monger and 12″ Obadiah Stane Figure from new-kid-on-the-block Bomber Toys are jaw-achingly beautiful! My God, just look at the size of the Monger. Best of all, it’s in kit form which means we get to paint it the way we like. And and and…it’s got blue LEDs on the eyes and chest as well! Boy I sound like a 5-year old kid in a candy store. Only downside? Well it’s as yet unlicensed, and apparently pending licensing approval from Marvel.
Those guys at Marvel better give this the green light otherwise I foresee lots of unbelievably pissed off Iron-Man fanboys, including yours truly. Or better yet, screw the license and just use a generic name for the kit & figure and sell it at a much lower price. Otherwise, I have a feeling a licensed piece of this scale would probably be equivalent to a second mortgage like the Medicom Ma.K Maschinen Krieger 1/6 Super Armored Fighting Suit S.A.F.S. Figure.
This is Sideshow’s first bust from the Star Wars universe to receive the Legendary Scale Bust treatment. Sideshow has decided to start this line with Commander Cody, the leader of the 212th Attack Battalion. This bust stands at 18 inches tall and depicts Commander Cody receiving “Order 66” from a holographic image of Emperor Palpatine. The Emperor Palpatine hologram features a LED light feature, powered by batteries hidden in a compartment within Commander Cody’s hand.
Although I’m not a huge Star Wars fan, this bust is nevertheless starting to grow on me as I’m a sucker for statues that feature LED lights. And in this case the LED feature is used very appropriately on the holographic image. Nice!
