Metal Gear fans rejoice! Our dream of owning a fantastic representation of the Metal Gear Rex figure is finally going to come true! 3A Toys will be releasing this exceptionally well done (at least from the looks of these preliminary shots) Metal Gear Rex figure sometime next year. Rex here is rumored to be around 15″-17″ and will be constructed of PVC, resin, and ABS plastic (much more cost effective materials compared to its full-scale in-game counterpart :) ). As with all 3A figures, it’s probably not going to come cheap though. I’ll be waiting anxiously for the final pricing. Here’s hoping I’ll be able to go for it when the time comes.

Holy $#!+! A few weeks ago, I mentioned about a beautiful pair of custom Evangelion Rei Stratocaster & Telecaster that were being produced by Fender Japan. Well guess what, there’s going to be 1/8 miniaturized versions of these and they will be produced by F-Toys! This is absolutely amazing news, at least those of us who aren’t prepared to fork out that many greens for the real-deal can now own the miniature versions. Hey, if we can’t own the full-sized one ourselves, doesn’t mean our lovely 1/8 figs can’t have one too. Can’t wait to have these to go along with my 1/8 Haruhi.

Expect these to hit shelves around January 2010 for 4,725YEN ($50) each. Best of all, they even come with their own Nerv carrying case.

Available at HLJ.com, HobbySearch.com, & Eva Store.

Good news for Figma collectors, gamers and Saber fans. Fate/Extra will be released around March next year for the Sony PSP. Unlike the previously released Fate/Unlimited Codes (for the PSP & PS2) which is a VS fighting game, Fate/Extra will instead be an action RPG featuring the lovely characters from Fate/Stay Night such as Saber and Rin Tohsaka.

The best part is, the game will come in a Limited Edition version which features a special illustrated box, a beautiful figma figure of Saber in her Fate/Extra costume, a soundtrack and a visual book. The Figma figure will come with 2 different headsculpts, sculpted by Wada Aruko and Takeuchi Takashi respectively. The game still has a few months before finally coming to market, but there’s already something to like based on the screens in the Famitsu magazine scans as well as preliminary pics of the figure…Saber’s see-through costume! Can’t wait.

Follow the official Fate/Extra Blog here.

Whoa…these are really cool figures from Usavich, which is an animated short produced for MTV Japan by Kanaban Graphics. The Usavich anime revolves around two rabbits, Putin and Kierenenko and their adventures in a Soviet prison. Some episodes can be quite funny indeed. Do check it out if you haven’t already done so.

But what we’re going to be featuring today isn’t the anime but these very cool figures of Putin and Kierenenko from FREEing.

Putin and Kierenenko are both large figures, standing at approximately 40cm (16″), and the best thing about these figures: they dance! Yup, they dance..just like in the beginning of each episode where it always starts off with Putin dancing on the bed accompanied by that wacky music in the background. In the case of these figures, Purin will be swinging his hips to the music while Kirenenko will be cleaning his shoes - both to the familiar background music from the show. Absolutely fantastic!

Both figures are available in December for about 12,000 YEN ($120) each. These 2 clowns are absolutely must-haves for me. Will these be in your buy-list as well? And are you a fan of the animated short?

This adorable figure from Kotobukiya is apparently called Kobato from the manga of the same name. The manga was initially featured in CLAMP magazine. Although I haven’t the slightest clue about Kobato but I do like what I see on this figure. Very vibrant colors and the umbrella and cage-like thingy complements the figure nicely.

Kobato will debut in December and pre-orders are available at most retailers now.

wave_toradora_taiga_2

This is Wave’s representation of Aisaka Taiga from the Toradora anime. I’m absolutely digging the pose and expression on the figure since it has a very playful expression to it. And based on the scans from the Hobby Japan magazine, she will come with multiple facial expressions, but the smiling one seems like the better of the two. The other neutral expression just seems too generic to me.

By the way if you haven’t already done so, do check out the Toradora anime as it’s a nice little romantic comedy.

This beauty here is Uplark’s 1/7-Scale Birdy Cephon Altera from Tetsuwan Birdy The Mighty Decode. This is a really nice Birdy sculpt, and I think it’s quite rare to come across Birdy figures, so Uplark should be commended for releasing this. The pose and expression of Birdy has a very upbeat feel to it and she will be available from September for 8,190 YEN ($80).

Uplark looks like they’re on a roll. This fantabulous figure of Rei Ayanami with Entry Plug Interior is amazing don’t you think? Scheduled for a release before the end of the year for about 12,800 YEN (US$140). It’s by no means a cheap figure, but the price reflects the size of the entire piece, as the entry plug is 33 cm (13-inches) long. This would really stand out if displayed alonside other PVC figures. Definitely a must-have for me!
