Harrison Krix of Volpin Props, whose jaw-droppingly outstanding Big Daddy suit I mentioned in one of my previous post has again managed to awe and inspire us by taking some of the most surreal and beautiful photos of him in said suit. He was complemented by his fiancee Emily, who looked equally amazing as a Little Sister. The photos were taken in the Georgia Aquarium, and I think you’ll agree with me that they do indeed look as though the pictures came right out of the game itself! Just compare the pictures with this official Bioshock wallpaper from the 2kGames site and you’ll get what I mean.

After you’re done picking up your jaw from the floor from viewing the rest of the high res pictures in his blog here, you’ll be in for another surprise as he’s currently auctioning off this very same Big Daddy suit on Ebay (auction ends Dec 03, 2009 09:20:14 PST). Yes folks, if you have some extra greens lying around and you feel like owning this superbly made replica costume of the Big Daddy, you actually have the ability to do so now. Mr Krix is even willing to build a custom display stand for the suit for a fee if the auction winner would like one.

This suit and the photoshoot is awesomeness redefined, and I’m dreaming of having it on display in my games room even as I type…*sigh*..note to self..I’ve gotta earn myself more money.

tokyo_game_show_2009_tgs_final_fantasy_cloud_strife_perfume

Alright, I really love Final Fantasy VII. It’s without a doubt the best game I’ve ever played. Heck, I don’t even consider it a game..more like a life event everyone needs to experience, like having sex for the first time, getting married…yeah, I think you pretty much get the idea by now.

But it kinda annoys me sometimes when I see the amount of “pointless” merchandise Square Enix throws out to die-hard fans suckers like us. This here is a Final Fantasy VII Cloud Perfume which was sold during Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2009. I’m finding it hard to imagine how Cloud would smell like if he was real flesh and blood. Ummm..probably kind of like everyone else (ie. sweaty and smelly after a long day carrying that Buster Sword which probably weighs more than he does).

I don’t know, as stupid as a Cloud perfume sounds, I’m actually quite curious as to how it’ll smell. Should I scour Yahoo! Japan for one…or should I wise up and not fall for Square Enix’s marketing ploys? Decisions decisions.

Ahhh the kind of stuff that’s every man’s boy’s dream..to own the leather costume worn by Transformers hottie Megan Fox. This, together with various props from both Transformers films will be be auctioned off next month on iCollector. Flashbacks of Ms Fox changing out of the leather costume to surprise Sam Witwicky outside his house is suddenly all coming back to me. That itself was worth the 2.5 hours I had to sit through watching that mindless film.

Other props worth mentioning include the Matrix of Leadership, Megan Fox’s hero motorcycle airbrushing costume, and a gargantuan Full-scale screen-used Hero Bumblebee robot with bidding starting at $60,000!

We all know Japan has all the cool (and sometimes weird) stuff. Now this is something I’ve never seen before.  Not sure if this is a custom one-of-a-kind Boblbe-e backpack or not..I’m guessing it is. For the uninitiated, Boblbe-e (aka Boblbee) is a Swedish company which produces backpacks that double as back protectors for bikers, cyclists, skiers and the like. Their most popular and successful line is their Megalopolis hardshell backpack.

As you can probably tell from the pictures, this does not look like your everyday Boblbe-e Megalopolis backpack. It comes with what seems like an In-Car Tuner/Cassette player with a built-in CD Changer. It even has built-in speakers and an antenna sticking out! I’m not sure if this is truly portable though. I think it looks like there’s an outlet to plug in a mains adapter, so this might not be a fully portable device. Either way, it’s still an amazingly cool idea!

The auction ends in about 10 hours as of time of this writing and there still aren’t any bidders.

Here’s another extremely well done costume. I think cosplayers in the US are finally catching up to their counterparts in the far east in terms of creativity and quality. And I’ve got a theory to share as well..I think most of the top-quality cosplaying that we’ve been seeing has something in common, and that’s most of them have costumes which completely cover the cosplayers’ face and body. So I guess the lesson to be learnt is to put on something that doesn’t give your identity (or body measurements) away. Ironic ain’t it, considering how cosplaying originated from animes and most animes have scantily clad brtues & babes.

[From Left To Right, Top To Bottom]: Sailor-Mon, Scary Red Riding Hood, Let’s hope all goddesses aren’t like this, Mai Shiranui (Pre Gastric-Bypass), Man-Faye, Naruto & Co. having 1 too many sushi

In my previous post, I came across an absolutely fantastic Big Sister number which somebody donned during the recently completed SDCC 09. Then I thought to myself, why not look up some bad ones and see how bad things can get. Sure enough, as you can see from some of the pictures they can get preeeeetty bad! Enjoy the cosplay carnage.

I wrote about those irresistible Bioshock 2 figures in my previous post, and now I came across these pictures. Bioshock 2 hasn’t been out but there’re already cosplayers out there making brilliant costumed representations of the Big Sister character from the game. This is one of the best cosplays I’ve seen in a while if you ask me. Kudos to the person who took the time and effort in putting together such a great costume.

swine-flu-mask-protection
Are you afraid of the spread of swine flu when you’re out and about in public, yet do not want to look like a dork with a face mask on? Why not try one of these “Look-At-Me” face masks that’s being offered by JapanTrendShop.com? I’ve previously written about making your own DIY face mask, but for those who’d prefer something a little more flair these trendy masks will be right up your alley.

These masks would definitely come in handy for our friends in the Southern hemisphere, where they’ll be going into flu season as winter approaches. Melbourne, reportedly the swine flu capital of the world now has just recently recorded its first child flu death yesterday. Perhaps it’s time we take more precautions to check the spread of this disease.
